Books
The Loser Letters, Mary Eberstadt. Very clever.
Daily Meditations with F.B. Meyer. I found a 1979 copy of this in a big used bookstore in downtown Milwaukee.
The Brothers Karamozov. I recommend the translation by Pevear and Volokhonsky. I started in a different translation and didn’t like it nearly as much so I made the switch. It is a very long and dense book. You have to be committed to it. But if you are – it offers so many glimpses into the human heart. It does what great literature is supposed to do.
The Glory of Christ by John Owen. I was really enjoying this book until a certain youth minister entered my office and absconded with it. I suppose it is becoming one of his favorites now…
Shopping
Watts Tea Shop in downtown Milwaukee. Enjoyable place to wander around and look at really expensive stuff.

Thinking in Public with Albert Mohler. Peter Berger one week and Robert Putnam the next. Both were very eye-opening interviews for me.
