I love talking with Amy.
She has such a heart for the Lord, love for His church and reverence for His Word.
We talk (like all parents do) about raising children into adulthood.
In our case, one daughter and two sons.
We want to see them independently dependent upon Christ.
After one of our conversations about biblical manhood, Amy wrote this.
A man stands.
A man plants his feet.
He won’t move from there
unless it’s forward.
A man gets shoved.
A man sets his jaw.
He isn’t stepping back
and his eyes show his resolve.
A man knows.
A man plants knowledge.
He won’t quit learning
until he understands.
A man gets questioned.
A man sets his answer down.
He isn’t swayed by error
and his voice reveals the truth.
A man plans.
A man plants ideas.
He won’t stop trying
until he makes it work.
A man gets ignored.
A man gets it done.
He isn’t defeated by mockery
and his hands reveal determination.
A man leads.
A man plants inspiration.
He won’t accept excuses
until attempts to divert him fail.
A man gets disrespect.
A man turns it into momentum.
He isn’t injured that some don’t follow
and His feet reveal a path for those who will.
A man serves.
A man plants humility.
He won’t accept less than his own hurt
until his charge is safely home.
A man gets no praise.
A man doesn’t need it.
He isn’t a slave to what people say
And his ears reveal He’s already heard from God.
