Affirmations
In Scripture we find several passages that serve as summary or creedal statements (Deuteronomy 6; 1 Corinthians 15:1-8; 1 Timothy 3:16). From a historic perspective, Christian churches have held to creedal confessions since the late fourth century (Apostle’s Creed, Nicean Creed, and Chalcedonian Creed).
In more recent years, Racine Bible Church leadership has found the following statements to be helpful in clarifying our doctrinal positions in various areas. We are in general agreement with these statements:
The Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, published in 1978, is the earliest one on this list and continues to be foundational
Our Senior Pastor graduated from the Master’s Seminary, and their longer doctrinal statement faithfully represents our doctrinal beliefs
The Danvers statement, from the Counsel on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood in 1988, about manhood and womanhood
Together for the Gospel affirmations and denials, from 2006, lays out the importance of the gospel in the life and ministry of the church
The Nashville statement, from the Counsel on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood in 2017, about biblical sexuality
