“How to Survive a Cultural Crisis” This short article is filled with wisdom to churches and Christians who are facing the consequences of a cultural shift on same-sex marriage issues. Here is the introduction and first point, but you really have to follow the link and read the whole thing for yourself.   Standing up for historic Christian principles will…

What if I don’t feel like praying?

Oftentimes when we come to God in prayer, we do not feel like praying. What shall one do in such a case? Cease praying until he does feel like it? Not at all. When we feel least like praying is the time when we most need to pray. We should wait quietly before God and tell Him how cold and prayerless our hearts are, and look up to Him and trust Him and expect Him to send…

confidence and joy

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified, and those…

A Prayer

Grant, Almighty God, that as Thou invitest us daily with so much kindness and love and makest known to us Thy fatherly goodwill, which Thou didst once show to us in Christ Thy Son – O grant that, being allured by Thy goodness, we may surrender ourselves wholly to Thee, and become so teachable and submissive that wherever Thou guidest us by Thy Spirit, Thou mayest…

I will serve IF

We often talk about how the church needs more people to serve. Actually, there are plenty of people who will serve. There is no shortage of people who will serve IF …   1. 2 to read I was personally challenged by this one. It is the story of a guy who went on a year long spending fast. He resolved to purchase no new discretionary items for a year. I like what he shares about the experience — http://careynieuwhof.com/2013/03/7-lessons-from-my-year-long-spending-fast/   And here is a well written article appealing to the entire…

New leaves push off the old

We have all seen a tree or a hedge thick with dry leaves throughout the winter, and neither frost nor wind completely removed the withered foliage, but the spring soon made it clear. The new life dislodges the old, pushing it away as unsuitable to it. So our old corruptions are best removed by the growth of new graces. It is as the new life buds and opens that the old…

Church Services in Kenya

Yesterday our team worshiped Jesus at AIC Tharuni Hepzibah. AIC is the affiliation, Tharuni is the village and Hepzibah is the name (I think it means blessed people, but am not too sure as my Swahili/kikuyu is not that great). We were there from 9:00 to 3:00 worshipping, praying, singing, dancing, teaching and preaching. It was unforgettable. From 9-10 we did gospel…

Kenya Update

Things here are really rolling. I am in class all day lots of teaching and lots of q and a. I kind of miss the team because they are out doing things without me all day. I thought we would hang pit at night but they even have me teaching a night class! We are meeting so many dear believers and having a great time.   [alpine-phototile-for-tumblr…
