Opened the Word this morning while munching raisin bran.
This verse stuck with me.
Proverbs 19:11
A man’s wisdom gives him patience;
it is to his glory to overlook an offense.
It is wisdom that gives one patience.
And it is patience that enables one to have peace.
How much more at peace would I be if I were wise enough to be patient?
And I am considering this in my family and ministry and all of my relationships.
How many of our troubles would evaporate if we could overlook offenses?
Many of us carry pain and wounds and scars because we have been offended.
Is that pain and trouble caused by the one who offended us? I suppose sometimes it is.
But how much of it stems from our own inability to overlook an offense?
