Bob Stone

Bob Stone

Early this morning, Bob Stone went to be with his Savior.

This week the doctors had placed him on hospice. He was ready. His faith has become sight.

Bob has been financial secretary at RBC for many years now. Everybody trusted his integrity. We could always count on his faithful, honest wisdom.

Bob had very significant physical limitations. Speech and mobility were extremely limited. But here’s the thing. He served.

To another man, any typical person really, those limitations would form an excuse (a perfectly understandable, easily justifiable, completely acceptable excuse). Bob refused to let them become that. He served. He gave of himself, day after day and year after year. He was here late on Sundays recording checks and preparing receipts.

Bob’s wife Pat is our dear friend. She is, in her own way, a remarkably strong woman. Amy and I were with her for some time today. She trusts her Savior. We were reflecting together how happy we are that God does not ask us for advice or consultation. “He knows what He is doing,” she told us. “And His ways are always best. He has been so good to us through the years.”
