Church Services in Kenya

Yesterday our team worshiped Jesus at AIC Tharuni Hepzibah. AIC is the affiliation, Tharuni is the village and Hepzibah is the name (I think it means blessed people, but am not too sure as my Swahili/kikuyu is not that great).

We were there from 9:00 to 3:00 worshipping, praying, singing, dancing, teaching and preaching. It was unforgettable. From 9-10 we did gospel classes for the children. Then from 10-1:30 was the church service. They don’t look at the clock here. Unlimited singing and preaching time! Then after church for an hour or so our team broke up to meet in small groups with the elders, children’s workers, youth leaders, men’s and women’s leaders to do training and q and a times.

Their responsiveness to the Word (I exposited Romans 8.16-25) was amazing. They know suffering and they love to look to Jesus through it all. Their singing is… well there is nothing like it.
