So this man led his flock to the back of the wilderness.
He approached the foot of a rock covered mountain.
Sheep were making little noises, scrounging around for food.
And the man met God.
After he removed his sandals, he actually had a conversation with God.
The man asked God a great question. “What is Your name?”
“If people ask me exactly who I was talking with out here in the wilderness, what do I tell them?”
“What is your name?”
God answered the man directly. “I am.”
God identifies Himself by using a verb of being. To be. Is. I am.
This is not quite the Name one would expect. What does it mean?
It means that God is.
He is identified by His eternal, inescapable, unstoppable is-ness.
