This morning I listened to a podcast story about Vin Scully. He is going to be 83 and he is calling games for his 62nd season with the Los Angeles Dodgers (though they weren’t Los Angeles when he started).
Listen to a tape of him calling Sandy Koufax’s perfect game in 1965. I dare you to try not to get caught up in the moment. It is irresistible. Not because of the sports drama but because of the moving narrative that Scully creates with his words.
I thanked the Lord this morning for Vincent Scully’s talent and skill. It is a joy to listen to or watch someone who is a master at their craft. I don’t know Mr. Scully’s spiritual state. I pray that He knows or will soon come to know Jesus as Savior. And I also pray that God would let me speak with that kind of clarity, creativity, passion and contagious engagement every Sunday until I am 83!
