If Amy was married to a movie star…

If Amy was married to a movie star…

This is a brief follow up to the post last week about Kirk Cameron.

I wrote about his (unheard-of-and-unique-in-Hollywood) commitment to kiss only his wife.

His most recent film did the kissing scene in backlit profile so that his wife could stand in for the actress playing his wife in the movie.

I ended my reporting on his decision this way…

“Way to go Kirk!

That is exactly what I would do if I were in your shoes.”

Amy sent me an email right after she read that post.

Here I will reproduce for you all two words of her email to me…

“You’d better!”

She cracks me up. Emails from her are my favorite.

The woman to whom I am happily married would never let me get away with anything.

About this, I am happy. Very happy indeed.

As I smiled over Amy’s email.

For some reason I started considering the opposite.

What if I was in a marriage where my wife did not care about my fidelity?

I cannot imagine being married to a wife who did not care about my spirit.

How sad would that be?

Married to a woman who couldn’t care less if I was at church, or in prayer, or in the Word.

That would break my heart.

Amy wants me to walk in God’s truth and grace. She longs for this zealously.

This is a high blessing to me.

If you are in a marriage where your wife (or husband) cares about your soul – thank God for this!

This is His good gift to you.

This leads me to a prayer for our three kids.

I pray that, if God calls my three kids to marriage, that their life partner would be as serious about their spiritual growth as my wife is about mine.
