Amy and I ran along the lakeshore this morning.

I love seeing the sun break through the clouds on the water.

Here are a few things that popped up on my ipod:

Interview with Kevin DeYoung and Ed Stetzer about the unchurched.

They were answering questions like: What do unbelievers think about the church? How can the church best reach them?

Deyoung cracked me up! He was talking about how some unbelievers “like Jesus but don’t like the church.” He said that twenty-something unbelievers feel really positive about Jesus… as long as that Jesus is the Jesus of their own image who postures for their pet causes. “The Jesus they like is Bono in a bathrobe.” I laughed out loud.

Two songs came up from Jackson Browne. One was about poverty and war and politics and peace. It was so wrong-headed, so naive, and so wrong that it made me want to gag. The second was about love and heartbreak. It was so well-written, so accurate, and so right that it made me have to smile.

Ed Stetzer gave a statistic about the unchurched that I sure hope is true. He reported that Lifeway interviewed over 1,000 unbelievers in the 20-30 year old age range. When asked this question: “Would you be willing to study the Bible with a Christian who befriended you?” 65% of them said yes. What an opportunity! Get out there and give it a try.
