I am listening to the Together for the Gospel 2008 messages and panel discussions on my Ipod.

Wayne and Darien were there and heard them live.

I stayed home so all I got were the MP3s.

Here is something to consider from John Piper –

Consider the absolute ubiquity of entertainment. We had TV and radio when I was in college. But now, in your pocket, any movie you want and any music you want, at any time. There is no moment when you may not relieve yourself of the temptation of seriousness with a quick dip into any entertainment you want. The ubiquity of relief from seriousness and the implications of that for our mindset must be considered.

The panel was discussing total depravity and God’s sovereignty in salvation.

Here is a bit of what John MacArthur said –

If I felt that I was responsible, personally responsible, for any person’s salvation, that would be the end. Talk about burn-out! If I felt that my ability, my creativity had anything to do with people’s salvation… that is a burden I could never carry. I couldn’t face that. But that is out of my hands, out of ministry. I know I cannot raise the dead. God does that. All I have to do is speak His truth.
