“Memories are not dead things but alive; they dwindle in disuse, but they harden and develop in all sorts of queer ways if they are being continually fretted.”
From the short story, A Slip Under the Microscope, H.G. Wells
Isn’t memory a precious thing?
I love the memories Amy and I have built in California, Washington, Wisconsin, San Diego, Lake Tahoe, New Zealand, Romania, Italy, Albania, and other places inbetween.
Isn’t it also an awful thing?
We can make mistreatments and sufferings more and more painful as we play them over and over in our minds.
We are even capable of causing ourselves to believe what we used to know was not true by deciding to remember selectively.
Memory is indeed powerful, precious and potentially dangerous.
Give your mind and your memory to God.
Ask Him for help remembering what He would have you remember and forgetting what He wants you to forget.
Search your Bible and discover what God has commanded you to remember.
Use your memory for His glory.
