I just got word that Evelyn Bachman went home to be with the Lord. Do you know who she is? She is one of this church’s great cloud of witnesses. I have been here at RBC since 2001. Evelyn ‘retired’ from missionary service just before my arrival here. She had been serving – full time – since 1947. RBC supported her for some fifty years and she proved to be faithful in evangelism for all of them. Back in the day, every two years Evelyn and her cousin covered schools and neighborhoods in all of Wisconsin’s 72 counties and Upper Michigan’s 15.
Being in a church with men and women like Evelyn motivates us to be faithful stewards of the ministry God has entrusted to us.
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
