This morning I stopped on one third of a verse.
It is the middle part of a tricolon in the 24th psalm.
he who does not lift up his soul to what is false
The one being described here is the one who can ascend to worship the Lord. Several actions and attitudes make up his description. This one struck me perhaps the most powerful of them all.
It prompted a searching time of prayer.
In what ways do I lift up my soul to what is false?
What are the false fronts of happiness and security that my soul rises toward?
Oh Lord, keep my soul for You alone!
