We got Domino’s Pizza and chicken wings for RBC Staff lunch today.
The pizza because Linda, Donna, Phyliss, Scott, Darien & Dan love it. The wings because John A and Wayno just have to have a contest about who can eat more hot wings.
After we ate I shared these scriptures and the points they make to us about prayer …
Prayerlessness or Prayerfulness
1 Samuel 12:23
“Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way.”
Prayerlessness is a sin against God.
Prayerfulness is obedience to God.
Matthew 26:41
“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
Prayerlessness ignores the warning of Jesus and leaves me unguarded from my own flesh.
Prayerfulness regards the warning of Jesus to keep self-watch and resists the pull of my own flesh.
Prayerlessness makes me more vulnerable to temptation.
Prayerfulness protects me from temptation.
Ephesians 6:13 and 18
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints–
Prayerlessness leaves me an easy target for all of Satan’s schemes.
Prayerfulness makes me alert and aware and resistant to Satan’s schemes.
Prayerlessness saps my endurance and makes me unable to stand strong.
Prayerfulness gives me perseverance in the battle so that I can stand strong.
Psalm 139:23, 24
Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting.
Prayerlessness leaves me ignorant of my own tendencies so that I can mislead myself.
Prayerfulness gives me self knowledge, from God Himself, so that He can safely lead me away from my own worst tendencies.
