So I see this bumper sticker (again) while out on my jog.
Can we talk about this?
Can I … ask a … question?
Here it is:
Your statement/motto/practice to question authority is a commitment.
By what authority do you make such a commitment?
Can I question the authority by which you do so?
May I question your authority to question authority?
May I ask one more question?
Where does this endless loop of mirroring questions end?
Can’t we both just admit — regardless of personal preference or religious results — that there is only one way for it to end?
It must end with One Sovereign.
There has to be a place where you stand and say “This is it.”
Your slogan seems to be declaring that you – yourself – are that place.
Your commitment to question authority is an authoritative stance from which all else begins.
Okay.
Can I talk to you about mine?
It starts before you and I ever were.
It is eternal.
It is triune.
It is holy.
It is love.
And it is true.
