Next to my keyboard here I see my notes from Darien’s sermon on repentance. You need to hear this again. I do too…
Repentance does not stop once we start the Christian life.
It is an ongoing part of the momentum of living the Christian life.
Regular repentance is a sign that the Holy Spirit is working in you.
As a Pastor, I do not get concerned about a Christian who is always finding that they need to repent. What concerns me most is the professing Christian who never thinks that he or she needs to repent!
Repentance is not promising God that we will never sin again. That is a promise that we can know ahead of time that we will break. Besides, we don’t make promises to God. He makes promises to us in the gospel.
Repentance is resolving, by the grace of God in Christ, to move in a different direction with a transformed mind and heart.
