softball, hospital outreach, and leadership

If you want to read ahead for this Sunday’s sermon, get into John 3 and 4.

Congrats to Men’s Softball RBC team 2. They got their first win last night! It has been a long time coming. The guys have been hanging in there. Coach Varebrook is doing a great job.

Just opened a super email from Pastor Victor in Kabardino-Balkaria. When John A. and I were there in April John got sick and we had to take him to the hospital. They helped us out and fixed John up enough to make our flight home. Anyway, Pastor Victor followed up last month by bringing the nurses and doctors a cake and inviting them to church. He asked them if the church could do anything to help them. They needed a wheelchair. Victor’s church promptly donated a brand new wheelchair. Victor shared that when they presented the wheelchair, the hospital staff let them conduct a service, read Scripture and share the gospel!

Join me in praying for RBC’s leaders. We need God’s vision, Christ’s heart, and Holy Spirit boldness. This week in pastor’s meeting we read Oswald Sanders on Initiative.

“Leaders must initiate. A true leader is venturesome as well as visionary. Paul constantly took calculated risks, always carefully and with much prayer, but always reaching for what lay beyond.

More failure comes from excess of caution than from bold experiments with new ideas. The frontiers of the kingdom of God were never advanced by men and women of caution.”
