We gathered for the conclusion of our summer evangelism training last night. We have been well taught by Brian Phipps, Kevin DeYoung, and Wayne Beilgard. The thing that hit me most about the teaching (all 8 weeks) was that every week we left with some specific thing to do. But it was never about doing to-do lists; it was always presented as the glory of God and the passion of the people of God.
The testimonies last night filled us with hope. Marcus gave a Bible to Brad. Brad got saved. Brad then gave a Bible to his brother. His brother got saved. Then he shared the gospel with his father, and then his step-father. The ripples from that first step are still rolling.
The gospel is good news. God’s grace is the best news in the world.
Last night we were reflecting about Romans 4. What if it said “Salvation is by grace through faith. But not those things alone. You also have to be circumcised.”
Can you imagine how awkward evangelism would be? Seriously.
But the gospel of salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone is absolutely universal. Go and share it.
