Top Ten from Sunday

10) Our choir sounded great. I love the fact that for four different numbers they had four different conductors. Aren’t you thankful that we have so many talented people who are willing to help in the work of the ministry?

9) The way our deacons ran shuttle service from across the street to our parking lot. Just like the week before, we filled up with visitors and really needed the extra space.

8) Hearing our 3rd – 5th grade choir declaring that ‘Every good and perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights’ at the very top of their lungs.

7) Sharing a bit from an ancient Christmas sermon by Chrysostom

I do not think of Christ as God alone, or man alone, but both together. For I know He was hungry, and I know that with five loaves and two fish he fed five thousand. I know he was thirsty, and I know that he turned water into wine. I know that He was carried in a ship, and I know that He walked on the sea. I know that He died, and that He raised the dead. I know that He was before Pilate, and I know that He sits with the Father on His throne. I know that He was worshipped by angels and I know that He was crucified by Jews. And truly some of these I ascribe to the human and others to the Divine. He is both God and Man.

6) Getting to watch my mom sing in the Christmas Concert at Grace Community Church via livestream on Sunday night.

5) This one is a low point for which I am very unthankful. Having my son show me the original trololo video of some very freaky Russian Lawrence Welk singing show. I refuse to link to it on this blog. I hate it.

4) Josh’s testimony. What a story of God’s power to deliver from slavery to sonship!

3) Drew and Wayne both wore ties. On the same Sunday. Will the wonders never cease?!

2) I talked to a couple of people who had never heard of Firm Foundations before Sunday and were ready to sign up and start participating.

1) The incarnation as the work of the Trinity. How the Father sent the Son. How the Spirit worked (mysteriously and invisibly) to bring it to pass. This little bit of doctrinal reflection fueled worship.
