Lord willing, our new series on the heart of Christ will begin this Sunday.
I need this.
And I am convinced that our church needs this as well.
Here is how it all started…
I read through the New Testament and marked down (in a yellow notebook that cost me 79 cents) every verse that shows the heart of Christ. I keyed in on His compassion, mercy, grace, kindness and love. These qualities were vibrantly on display in the days of His earthly ministry when He touched, healed, sympathized and wept. But they are no less on display right now in His very human and very sympathetic advocacy on our behalf.
So the plan is to cluster these passages together and work our way through them from the pulpit. Meanwhile I am begging Jesus to work these truths through my often-cold-hearted soul. I want to be more like Him!
This Sunday we will be in Matthew 9:36. If you want to read ahead I suggest you read Matthew chapters 8, 9 and 10 a couple of times. Then ransack Matthew 9:35-38 and note the main actions and motivations.
