At a recent elder’s meeting one of the men was unusually quiet. I didn’t hear him say much of anything throughout our discussions in the meeting.
Afterwards I asked him why.
He replied simply, “Today I needed to learn by listening humbly. I don’t want to utter words that make me a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. I was built up by everything that everyone else said. That is what I needed today.”
I am struck by his humility.
And I am convinced that more of us need to follow his example.
