Thomas Watson on the Providence and Deliverance of God
“When the hearts of his people are most humble,
When their prayers are most fervent,
When their forces are weakest,
When their enemies are highest,
Then is the usual time that Christ puts forth his kingly power to deliver his people.”
I highlighted that in Watson’s book “Body of Divinity” about a month ago. And I have been remembering it ever since, more so each day.
I know that my heart resists humility, weakness, and trouble. We all do.
But think about it with me…
None of us look back at the easiest times and reflect that our deepest devotion was found there.
We don’t want trouble. We don’t gladly welcome neediness.
But it is in those times when needs seem greatest and personal resources seem weakest, that we tend to look to the Lord with greater fervor and pray with greater passion.
Trusting Him and Praying for you,
