Some thoughts rattling around in my head today…
I liked hearing Boehner quote “ashes to ashes dust to dust” in the first paragraph of his first speech as Speaker of the House yesterday.
I ran in to somebody today who attends RBC very irregularly. I set him up with an easy question, “Do you have any New Year’s resolutions?”
He replied instantly “To attend church more regularly. I really need to get there more consistently.”
What about you? Do you have something, related to church involvement that you have resolved to do this year. Attend more regularly? Give more consistently? Volunteer to serve in some capacity? Attend Firm Foundations on Sunday evenings? Pray for people in your ABF weekly?
Somebody gave us Bananagrams for Christmas. We have been playing it. Like it a lot.
I am planning to head over to Kabardino-Balkaria in April. I will most likely teach the Pastor’s conference there on what I have been working on for my Doctoral project. Expository preaching that is both accurate (from the text) and applicable (to people today).
A verse that hit me this morning – Galatians 2:5
to them we did not yield in submission even for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you.
Paul, the faithful leader, refused to yield or change when it came to preserving the truth of the gospel. He resisted. A godly leader must know how and when and what to refuse. We need leaders committed to a stubborn and holy inflexibility about the truth of the gospel.
