Top Seven things from Sunday
– Hearing the children’s choir belt out those verses from Joshua and sing about the power and presence of God.
– Met four new families on Sunday. One has been coming for four months and is already really involved, one was here for their very first time, another has been here for a few weeks and told me they love our crosswalk program, and the fourth drives in all the way from Mukwonago.
– I was informed that I uttered the lines from a Daughtry song in one of my sermon points. I assured my informant that this was unintentional on my part. I was simply trying to emphasize the importance of responding to the Word immediately and not waiting until tomorrow. What about now? What about today?
– Loved seeing so many of our people eager to volunteer at Shepherd’s Ministries in Union Grove. I am thankful for this Christ-centered ministry and for Bill A., Chris W., David C. and many others who work at Shepherds and serve so faithfully here at RBC.
– Watched an old Jimmy Stewart movie last night. Really interesting how American morals and inhibitions change with the times. Everyone in the film (all the good guys) smoked constantly. This was considered fine. A character had a divorce in his past and this immediately made him suspect as immoral. A woman was referred to as an untrustworthy “dish” because she went out to a “juke joint” at 9:00pm by herself.
– Went to a lunch with Timothy and Drew’s ABF. Tony brought Spicy Sweet Chili flavored Doritos as his contribution to the potluck. I had never tried them before. Now I am hooked. Our job was to bring juice. They devoured all of the grape flavor but didn’t touch the orange. Eric, who is one year out of High School, shared his testimony. Great to hear.
– One of the teenagers I live with said “I have been meditating on Psalm one. I am given many, many opportunities to stand in the path of sinners. I need to have God’s Word and love for God so deep within me that I resist the influence of sinners and stay close in my relationship with God.” Another of the teenagers who live with me said “The lesson in youth ministry this morning was super convicting. We talked about the wisdom of the world vs. the wisdom from above and considered what influences are in our lives and how we use our time.”
