Trust me, it works.

Trust me, it works.

Kids.

They grow up.

As they get bigger, time gets faster.

If yours are older than ours you are saying, “Yeah. Tell me about it.”

If yours are younger than ours you are saying, “Yeah. That is what they tell me.”

This came to me again, last week, during Vacation Bible School.

Not one of ours, not even the youngest, can attend VBS anymore.

But, praise God for this, all three of them can volunteer to serve.

They did.

On Monday morning it was all grins. They were carefully looking through their leaders’ kits to prepare for the first day.

Excitement and anticipation were in the air.

Tuesday…

Wednesday…

By Thursday, they were dragging.

All I know is that on Thursday morning early, as I stood just outside the kitchen, I couldn’t believe my ears.

Mind you, this is a 13 year old and a 10 year old having this morning conversation.

Here is what I heard:

“Mom says this here is what you gotta do to deal with a morning like this.

Take one ibuprofen with a tall glass of ice water.

Then sit still with a brown mug of strong coffee and sip until it is all gone.

Try it, you’ll see.

Trust me, it works.”
