what I am up to lately

Party with the pastors is this Saturday. Please remember to pray for all of those visitors who have checked out RBC lately (we had so many around Palm Sunday, Easter, and our Mother’s Day outreach). Pray that we would demonstrate the love of God in Christ. That we ourselves would be the proof of the gospel message we preach.

We have a couple of special events coming up. King’s Brass will be here on Sunday morning June 5. Marquis Laughlin will be with us on Sunday morning July 24.

Someone recently came to me for prayer with this simple request. “I am such an angry man that often I think it will kill me.” I am praying for him. What about you? Is there something going on inside of you that threatens to take you out? Seek counsel and prayer. Do not delay.

Jonathan Edwards is blowing up my mind and driving conviction deep into my heart. Here is how he describes the work of Christ:

As an infinite condescension from infinite glory to infinite humiliation on behalf of the infinitely undeserving, Christ’s obedience was an infinitely meritorious act of love to the Father and to the elect.

Christ’s life was an expression of infinite regard to the holiness and majesty of God. Not only owing to the perfection of the obedience, but owing to the glory of the one who performed the act of honor and respect and the infinite expense of it. Christ, the absolute sovereign of heaven and earth, performed the most wonderful instance of submission to God’s sovereignty that ever was.

We love Culvers. They hooked us up with mission’s fundraiser. We try to be loyal. Really, we do. But Kopps is just so good. We were up there yesterday after Sam’s track meet. Two flavors – Mint chip and Butterfinger. Got waffle cones with both. When getting two scoops, be sure to specify which order you want them in the cone. In this instance we asked for the mint in the bottom as a finisher.
