What I am up to lately
In one week I will be leaving for Kabardino-Bulkaria. A few things to pray about toward that end.
I will be teaching a course to the church planting pastors on preaching and ministry. I intend to use lots of stuff from my doctoral project, which will be handy for me and, hopefully, a timely challenge for them.
John Anderson is to travel with me. This is a joy because John is both a godly mentor and an accomplished world traveler. He is the kind of competent that makes everything go smoothly. John’s aged father, Howard, is requiring more care and they are in the process of making some treatment decisions.
Books I have been reading (or dipping into) lately
Jane Eyre – No. It is most certainly NOT a chic-lit romance novel.
Him We Proclaim, Preaching Christ from All the Scriptures, Dennis E. Johnson
I am reading this with Darien and we discuss it at Subway. Our lunches are low in fat and high in redemptive-historical exegesis and exposition that seeks to remain true to dispensational distinctives.
The letters of Flannery O’Connor
Sharp, sarcastic, witty, Roman Catholic, Christ-haunted-south, Achingly deep views into sin and sorrow, helpful advice on writing and communicating.
The Temple, George Herbert
Octavius Winslow on the Sympathy of Christ
Preparing to preach this Sunday. It will the last in our series on Know God No Idols. I am preaching from Isaiah 40. This chapter is a scorcher.
Really looking forward to the fellowship meal this Sunday evening. We will celebrate the Lord’s table. We will hear several evidences of grace as our Pastors and ABF leaders interview various church members. Please join us.
