What I did today

What I did today

Today was a great day.

Some days I study all day. That is a profound pleasure. Some days I spend counseling with people neck deep in problems. That has its challenges but also its own personal joys. Some days I head to the hospital to comfort the suffering. Some days I crawl through a long to-do list filled with various tasks that fall to me as a spiritual leader.

Today was a great day.

My study comprised one bible verse printed on a yellow card. My counseling appointments were all about sharing with others and waiting your turn for snack. My flock consisted of two fourth grade girls and two seven year old boys.

I led the tribe of Levi today.

From song time, to snack time, from the games to the lesson. My tribe had a great day at Vacation Bible School.

We played dreidel. Matthew won. The kid had a knack for rolling gimmel.

We made crafts. I should say they made crafts. I don’t make crafts. I watch. I encourage. I pick stuff up.

Rabbi Bowers taught us all about the Passover. We ate the matzah with the bitter herbs, remembering our slavery. Then we ate it with the sweet, rejoicing in our freedom.

Mrs. R. taught us the Shema in Deuteronomy six with a song.

Amy got to give a Bible to a little fellow who did not have one. She taught him how to look up verses. What a privilege.

Please pray for our VBS ministry.
