Listened to a few of the talks from Together for the Gospel. I really liked them.
Cracked up at Right Ho Jeeves. I can’t remember the last book that had me chuckling, laughing and spitting Coke Zero through my nose like that!
Praying and meditating about what to share at the Youth ministry on Wednesday night. Dan invited me to come in and speak to the High School this week. I want to do a good job. I don’t want to embarrass my kids.
Praying through the list of people in our parenting class (from Anderson through to Wright. 54 in all)
Rylie and I used a can of Cuban Café Bustelo to make iced coffees with brown sugar. Delicious.
Took the family to see the play “Holes” at Racine Theater Guild. Fun.
Visited one of our seniors in ICU who seems to be preparing for his departure. He was not able to communicate. But I had the great joy of praying with his family in the assurance that husband/dad/grandpa is going immediately to Jesus when he departs. There is no substitute for the deep and abiding assurance of salvation in moments like that.
Party with the Pastors Saturday evening was great.
I met new people who…
- Learned how to study the Bible by watching a John MacArthur program on VCY.
- Wandered away from the church ten years ago and are just now coming back.
- Had sincere questions about how God’s Word applies in their situations.
- Just moved in from out of town and made it a priority to research and find a solid Bible church as soon as they moved here.
- Really appreciate that the sermons are directly from God’s Word without apology or distraction.
- Told me that they had never visited a church where so many people greeted them (and even invited them into their homes) so quickly and sincerely.
