Doctrine is a body of teaching contained in the Scriptures which is authoritative and based on the Living Word of God. The following is what we believe and what we teach.
- The Bible is the inspired, inerrant and authoritative Word of God (Psa. 19:7-11; 2 Tim. 3:16-17).
- There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19).
- The Lord Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died a substitutionary and atoning death, and after His bodily resurrection, ascended to the right hand of God, the Father. His people now await His imminent return to earth to rule in power and glory (Matt. 28:6; Luke 1:26-27; John 1:14, 14:3; Heb. 10:11-12; I Pet. 3:18).
- The Holy Spirit is that person of the Trinity by whose indwelling enables every Christian to live a godly life (Rom. 8:9; Gal. 5:16-25).
- Satan is the enemy of God and man, and his destiny is everlasting punishment (I Pet. 5:8; Rev. 20:10).
- All men are lost sinners and must turn to Christ in saving faith and repentance through regeneration by the Holy Spirit (Acts 4:12; Rom. 3:23; 5:12; 2 Cor. 7:10; Eph. 2:8-9).
- Salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed for the forgiveness of our sins (Eph. 1:7; 2:8-9).
- Christ’s ministry is centered in the church, of which He is the Head. The church now glorifies God by building up its members in the faith and advancing the gospel to the entire world (Acts 2:42; I Pet. 4:10).
- Both the saved and the lost will be resurrected; the saved to eternal life with Christ and the lost to eternal punishment in Hell (Matt. 25:46).
- The local church is the expression of the body of Christ. We believe the work and ministry of the local church is to build up and encourage the body and to witness to those who are lost. We also believe the church is to carry out the ordinances of believer’s baptism and the Lord’s Table. The local church is to be autonomous, self-governing, self-supporting and self-propagating (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2:34-37; I Cor.11:23-28; 12:12-13; II Cor. 6:14-17; Eph. 1:22-23; 4:17-29; 5:6-8; 5:25-27; 32).
