Last night we headed over to Barnes and Noble in Madison for an author’s appearance.
Here is Rylie with the author.
We were there to pick up N.D. Wilson’s newest book Dandelion Fire.
His first one, Leepike Ridge, is Amy’s favorite.
His second one, One Hundred Cupboards, is Rylie’s favorite.
I loved them both.
Last night, N.D. talked about reading the classics.
J.R.R. Tolkien
C.S. Lewis
George MacDonald
Edmund Spenser
Robert Lois Stevenson
I can hear their influence in his writing.
You know how there are some books that keep you engaged because you want to find out what happens next?
His do.
But most adventure stories, once you reach the end and find out what happens, leave you no reason to return and read them again.
These do.
They are so well written and bring in such rich themes that they reward another reading.
N.D. Wilson’s father is a Pastor in Idaho.
Taking our three to meet him last night made me wonder…
Maybe one of these will grow up and make his or her own author’s appearance at Barnes and Noble someday in the future.
