The Excellence of Christ – Lion and Lamb
A lion is admirable for its ferocious strength and imperial appearance. A lamb is admirable for its meekness and servant-like provision of wool for our clothing. But even more admirable is a lion-like lamb and a lamb-like lion. What makes Christ glorious, as Jonathan Edwards observed over 250 years…
omniscience
God has never learned from anyone. God cannot learn. Could God at any time or in any manner receive into His mind knowledge that He did not possess and had not possessed from eternity, He would be imperfect and less than Himself. To think of a God who must sit at the feet of a teacher, even though that teacher be an archangel or a seraph, is to think of someone other than…
Knowing God
Charles Spurgeon on studying to know God – The highest science and mightiest philosophy, which can ever engage the attention of the child of God is the name, the nature, the person, the work, the doings, and the existence of the great God whom he calls his Father. And while the subject humbles the mind, it also expands it. He who often thinks of God, will have a…
I chose you
John 15:16 Ye have not chosen me, But I have chosen you… ‘Ye did not choose me.’ How surely He diagnoses the human heart. How inevitably He puts His finger on our greatest shame and sorrow. Like the world in which we lived, and which counts us its own, we chose “after the sight of the eyes and the hearing of the ears.” but as for Jesus, when we saw Him there seemed no…

Prayer for the New Year
Are you brave enough to pray these this year? Ten short prayers for the new year Lord, place me in uncomfortable situations that will squeeze the lazy, self-centeredness out of me. Open doors for the gospel while giving me boldness and compassion to move through them. You have told me that a mind set on the flesh is death but a mind set on the Spirit is life and peace.…
Jesus held by the wood — the cradle and the cross
“To think that Christmas is more about the stable in Bethlehem than about the cross in Jerusalem is to regard the acorn as more important than the oak…The Christmas message is not merely the fact that God became man by being born of the virgin Mary; the Christmas message is the reason for the…
A New Record
Record Setting Numbers for our Christmas Services!!! The attendance numbers are in and we set a new record. We haven’t had such small numbers in ten years. In first service there were 56 people on the platform and about that many in the auditorium (right at 9:00) by the time they officially counted (at 9:45) there were 261 people here. Second service had a similar…
