Church Services in Kenya

Yesterday our team worshiped Jesus at AIC Tharuni Hepzibah. AIC is the affiliation, Tharuni is the village and Hepzibah is the name (I think it means blessed people, but am not too sure as my Swahili/kikuyu is not that great). We were there from 9:00 to 3:00 worshipping, praying, singing, dancing, teaching and preaching. It was unforgettable. From 9-10 we did gospel…

Kenya Update

Things here are really rolling. I am in class all day lots of teaching and lots of q and a. I kind of miss the team because they are out doing things without me all day. I thought we would hang pit at night but they even have me teaching a night class! We are meeting so many dear believers and having a great time.   [alpine-phototile-for-tumblr…

Pray for Team Kenya

RBC is sending a team to Nairobi Kenya to work with Paul and Mary Kamunge at Moffat Bible College, Sunrise Orphanage, and the church in that area. Please pray for the team members (Spencer, Amy, John, Scott, Debbie, Tim, Michelle, Jared, Sara, and Terri), for the many ministry opportunities they will have, and for a great harvest of spiritual fruit.

Two Links

Here are two links I found particularly powerful this week. The first one is some strong medicine against pornography. You should think about the porn war like any other war as having both defensive and offensive aspects. Defensive warfare is not a winning tactic, but it is a necessary tactic. And usually, when the Spirit has sacked a man, and he comes to his senses,…

How to Pray for Half an Hour

A decision to pray is good. But that decision must be carried out. A desire to pray is great. But that desire can become dissipated without concrete action and direction. Here is an easy plan to follow. Try it five days in a row. It’ll help. Worship with the Word (15 minutes) Start praying with your eyes and Bible open. Let Scripture get you started and keep you sustained…

How to Get Up Early for Morning Prayer

You should pray every morning. Why is prayer in the morning such a good idea? The sunrise of every morning is symbolic of a renewal of God’s deeds of love (Lamentations 3:23). Praying in the morning gives us an outlook for the whole day. The Psalmist put it like this – Psalm 5:3 NIV In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before…

What We Want to Hear

I was born in Dallas. My parents were members at First Baptist Dallas where W.A. Criswell was Pastor. Here is a good word from W.A. Criswell on the news of the day and the preaching of the Word. “When a man goes to church he often hears a preacher in the pulpit rehash everything that he has read in the editorials, the newspapers, and the magazines. On the TV…

Be Killing Sin

Be killing sin or it will be killing you. To mortify is to put to death. To mortify is to strike at something until its strength is gone, until it cannot come against you anymore. If God said slap it one time- you could do that and then kick back. But God said kill it so you can never stop, not till its dead. So the battle is constant. John Owen “Sin foils or is foiled;…

Three links

Good words here on Humanity, Love and Same-Sex Marriage. This long article is worth your time. http://thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/tgc/2013/04/15/love-and-the-inhumanity-of-same-sex-marriage/   I like this wise word from a pastor about mental illness. http://headhearthand.org/blog/2013/04/15/the-problem-with-mental-illness/   And if you only have time for one…

But my friend speaks in tongues

Signs, wonders, healings, speaking in tongues, and miracles… There was a woman who wrote a letter to her pastor. She was troubled, she told her pastor, because her friend prayed and saw family members miraculously healed. Her friend was doubting and then received extraordinary, miraculous manifestations of the Spirit that took away all her doubts. She was troubled, she…
