At Peace with God’s Provision

At Peace with God’s Provision

Psalm 23:2He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.

This Verse describes a heart at peace with God’s provision –

Notice the heart is at peace – it is a resting, trusting, contented heart.

The Psalmist is able to lie down. He could rest in the Lord. He knew that waiting on the Lord can be a joy and a relief, not just a task and a burden.

Puritan Richard Sibbes talked about contentment with God’s provision like this —

“Whatever is good for God’s children, they shall have it, for all is theirs to further them to heaven. If crosses and losses be good, they shall have them; if disgraces and difficulties be good, they shall have them in abundance, for all is theirs, to serve their main good — their arrival with Christ in heaven.”
