you can do this

you can do this

Don’t  you want to reach people with the love of God in Jesus?

Don’t you want to share the gospel more? And more effectively?

Though we probably all want this … we all talk ourselves out of it in big and small ways.

We might be too intimidated or too fearful.

We may be simply uncaring and self-centered.

We may regularly convince ourselves that we don’t know enough or are not eloquent enough at explaining what we do know.

I love how this old pastor removes some of those excuses right here –

It is a certain fact that deep reasoning and elaborate arguments are not the weapons by which God is generally pleased to convert souls. Simple plain statements, boldly and solemly made, and made in such a manner that they are evidently felt and believed by him who makes them, seem to have the most effect on hearts and consciences.

We need not be so anxious as we often are about fencing, and proving, and demonstrating, and reasoning out the doctrines of the Gospel . Not one soul in a hundred was ever brought to Christ in this fashion. We want more simple, plain, solemn, earnest, affectionate statements of simple Gospel truths. We may safely leave such statements to work and take care of themselves. They are arrows from God’s own quiver, and will often pierce hearts which have not been touched by the most eloquent reasonings.

J.C. Ryle Expository Thoughts on Luke

Let what has been stopping you stop you no longer.

You can make a simple plain statement.

You can be a person who genuinely feels and believes what you say.

Speak up, simply and sincerely. Don’t worry about proving or winning or convincing our counter-arguing.

Just make a simple, sincere statement and leave it to work.

God is able.
